I used to see them in the late '60s, early '70's but they were banned from competition by the Underwater Society, and many states outlawed them as "too powerful" and "unsporting". About once a year, there have been spearguns as antiques. . . If ebay sees that they use .22 blanks, I'm sure they would refuse to list it because of their "gun policy". I know of one that made it to Vietnam, It was difficult to get power shells but it worked very well.

Why are you asking on Scubaboard? Most people on ScubaBoard want to conserve the underwater environment, not destroy it. Why don't you go to a gun forum or something?

Pteranodon, why the flame, does owning a speargun mean that he is destroying the environment, NO. Perhaps he is collecting it, perhaps not, regardless I hope he finds one.

Goodluck finding your speargun drjorgesuarez, hopefully someone on here will be able to help you.

Welcome to Scubaboard, there is an underwater hunting forum that's U/W hunting friendly. If you post on the main board you get all the anti hunting static. The hunting forum is supposed to be fish hugger free.

I remember seeing one of those guns back in the 70's, today the ATFE would probably outlaw them. I guess you could claim it as a nail gun.

Good luck on your hunt

welcome aboard

Thanks, people forget that they eat fish, and meat they just dont make the connection in their brain. I have been spearfishing and shooting guns since I was 12 years old. I will go to the other post thanks for the heads up!!!
