to the OP, sorry if this sounds stupid, but are you unclipping the tank on your waist in order to stow your hose ?

Not an equipment solution.

I unfasten the tail clip of the deco tank from the left waist D-Ring. Tank remains clipped on the left shoulder D-Ring. Then, I bring the bottle forward in front of me. It looks like you're going to use the deco tank as a torpedo. This is done while in horizontal trim. While the tank is in front of you, you can nicely and cleanly stow your Deco reg and hose. Reclip tank back to left waist D-Ring when done.

+1, I find hard to believe the OP have trouble if he do this, hints my previous question, it seems he is trying to stow the hose with the tank fully clipped

A simple overhand know does the same thing, and the knot gives you something grab.

Good suggestion as well.

I don't need something specific to grab wearing dry gloves. The hog rings are a useful item to have for other bungee connection options.

Stowing the reg with the bottle fully clipped is doable, it just takes a little practice to get the feel for it.

Yes. As I mentioned, having one of those plastic tank-banger type balls on a bungee makes it rather easy to re-stow the reg without unclipping. The plastic knob makes it doable even with the loss of dexterity that comes with wearing gloves. It only took me a few practice runs with this set up to get it down.

Here is my solution to the hose securing issue. You just press the hose into the retainer or pull it away to remove the hose. No fiddling, practice, or unclipping required.

It is made of machined starboard marine lumber. It is attached to the hose clamp. I am still working on that concept a bit as currently, it uses two loops of wire ties or bungee to attach it to the hose clamp. I considered routing a groove in it, but that increases the amount that it sticks out from the tank by a quarter inch. As it is now, It does not stick out much more than the hose screw housing or the bolt snap. The second stage is secured using a conventional octo holder. If you really wanted to, you could do away with the octo holder completely and hold the reg by mouthpiece with the downward section of hose as in common practice, as there is sufficient tension with the retainer to hold the hose tight.

Since the holder is polymer marine lumber, it is not subject to uv degradation or damage as are elastic bands, bungee, and inner tube sections. Since the retainer is fixed to the hose clamp, it cannot come off or move out of place. It is always where it should be.

I tested it this last weekend and it works great. No problems deploying the hose or resecuring it with only one hand. It retained the hose properly during three training dives. I had gloves on at the time.

That looks kinda cool. Marine lumber does eventually break down. It seems like making this gizmo from Delrin would be even better.
