Hello i am interested in information on the springs that can be seen by nondivers. My wife has an injury that prevents her from diveing. But she snorkels if i stay with her. I am planing a trip to ginnie springs but was wondering if the boat ride in silver springs would be worth doing. I have been telling her how awesome it is to look into a spring and want to show her some of what i have seen. Anything that i can share with her would be a plus. Thanks mike

When are you going to Ginnie? I have rented one of their mobile homes for the nights of Nov 14-15. If you want to join us let me know.
Re Silver River: I dont have any experience on that river...yet.

Alexander Springs is a great place for snorkelers if you're passing by Ocala National Forest on the way to Ginnie. There are all kinds of fish and plenty of vegetation to look under to see what is hiding around the edges.

Thanks ginnie is sometime in the future i want to show my wife the springs so she will see that they are not scarey but beautyfull. That is the purpose of the glassbottom boat ride. She has limited use of her right arm and is hesitant to get into water that she isnt used to. Baby steps

Devil's Den in williston is another spring that can be visited by non-divers.It is completly under ground and is a beautiful site.If you camp there look down into the spring just before night fall after it has been quite for a bit you might see a very large catfish that looks more like a shark swimming around because of his size.I have yet to see it during the day but it looks to be at least 4' long.
Also Manatee Springs in Cheifland is pretty good as well.

Alexander Springs would be perfect. The coolest stuff can be seen from waist deep and shallower water then as she gets comfortable she can snorkel over to the deeper water above the spring. It's very wide open and the scenery is beautiful both topside and below.

I know what "limited use" of your arm is. I am just finishing up physical therapy on bicept surgery on my left arm. It was a complete tear, both tendon attachemnts needed to be re-attached. It is functional to dive but it is still very weak.

thanks rainbow river we have done float and canoe from the headwaters to the river. she enjoyed it. she destroyed her rotater cuff so putting on a full lenth suit is out. we are from the midwest so we are a little tougher than you natives but after 4 yrs we are acclimating we were shivering after the 4 hr float down the rainbow. does anyone make a 3-5mm shorty that has full zippers on sleeves and torso? your reccomendation of alexander springs sounds good we will stop on our way back from silver springs and check it out. as a side has anyone been to the hot spring somewhere south of sasasota? later mike

Try itchitucknee springs. No diving but you can go snorkling and tubing down it. The current just carries you along and it is beautiful.
