spearfishing kentucky

hey guys and gals. I'm just getting into scuba and am very interested in trying some spear fishing here ky. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with that. I have read the kdfwr rules on it but was wondering, is it worth my time to even try here in fresh water ( Dale hollow, laurel etc.)? I know I love me some catfish and sunfish and think it would be a ton of fun pursuing them via scuba. What do yall think?

Just saw this thread and figured i'd add my two cents.
I spear at laurel river lake fairly regularly and have a lot of luck getting flat heads and occasionally a blue cat.

With Spear Fishing do you just need a standard fishing license or is there a special license required? Just getting into SCUBA and thought this may be fun to check out also.
