I don't know about threaded plugs.
I used silicone powdercoating plugs. They are tapered and cost basically nothing.
In the US, you can get a large assortment on amazon for $20.

If its just for storage and keeping dust out of the 1st stage, then why not just take some plastic kitchen wrap (saran wrap) and wrap the 1st stage with it. It is transparent and will effectively keep dust and critters out of your 1st stage. Inexpensive, readily available, and effective.
