Any suggestions for a solvent to clean Nitrox stickers/duct tape glue off of a galvanized PST steel tank? Someone suggested Simple Green but the sticky stuff just laughed at it.

Thanks,
Mike

Never tried it on a tank, but I always use it to get the sticky stuff from price tags, etc. off things.

Vegetable oil should do it - takes a little rubbing, but it ought to work.

Acetone works for me!

Goo Gone works wonders for removing stuff ... don't know how it will affect the galvanized surface though.

I use a little rubbing alcohol on a rag. Old tape and glue residue comes right off.

Go to your local office supply store and get a pint of rubber cement thinner. This stuff is specifically designed to dissolve the adhesives used in bumper stickers, window stickers, & the like. Just be careful because it will craze some plastics.

I've found it to be the best for removing bumper stickers from cars, whether they're on the chrome, the paint, or the windows. It'll also remove stickers from clothing (especially price tags, etc.), but once again some synthetics can be a problem. - Test first!

I was first introduced to this stuff back when I was working as a draftsman during my college days - it cleans masking tape adhesive off drafting tables better than anything. (I'm showing my age..)

So what you're saying is that I shouldn't say anything about my slide rule, right?
