I thought the Revillagigedos were a pretty good bargain compared to Cocos or the Galapagos.
I was just looking at Cocos and the prices there are also much higher than Socorro. In the big picture, these "bucket list" destinations are going to get more and more expensive. The mainstream places are saturated and if you want to go see something truly unique you need to pay. And the market for luxury tourism is still strong. Try booking any unique experience like Antarctica Cruises (over $10K per person), Galapagos or Cocos LAB and prices are super high. Part of it is the limited number of operators and limits on tourists (a good thing?) and some is governments want their cut. Diving was never a cheap hobby and it's just getting pricier. I don't see it as good or bad, just a fact of life.

Hi @Anish,

My comment you quoted was based on a trip to the Revillagigedos in 2019 and trips to Cocos and Galapapagos in 2017 and 2018. I would have to look again to make an accurate statement today regarding these 3 locations.

Since then, I have visited Malpelo twice, in 2021 and 2023, and returned to the Revillagigedos this year. My wife and I did an absolutely fantastic Antarctic cruise including the Falkland Islands and South Georgia for our 40th wedding anniversary in 2019-20, just before Covid.

I'm a reasonably old guy, I'm extremely glad I was able to visit all these locations while I was able.
