I am (finally) diving the Soccors in November!
The question is, should I dive in a 5mm or a 7mm?

I see the temperature ranges between 23-27 C (73-80F).

As a stereotypical girl, I do get cold, but is it mostly 23C and rarely 27C? I don’t want to be ruining my experience because I’m freezing, but I don’t want to fork out for a new wetsuit if I don’t need to…

Any advice will be highly appreciated!

Thank you!!!

My last trip, dive days 11/6-11/11/23, the temp ran 78 to 82F with a few brief thermoclines down to 76. I wore a 3mm full suit and periodically added a 3mm hooded vest based on dive site and number of dives that day. There were folks diving board shorts, but they were hunting warm water occasionally. 😊 I saw several 5mm. I preferred a layered approach because the temps did vary by site. All IMHO YMMV. Enjoy your trip. The wildlife is fantastic. Keep in mind it’s a deep water crossing and all that it entails. 😎

I was there over Christmas this year. Looking at my dive logs San Benedicto and Socorro dives sites were 76-78 degrees F (24-26 C), Roca Partida was 73-75 F (23-24C). I was fine in a 5 mil, but Roca Partida had me feeling cold at the end of dives- when I go again I'll probably plan on a 5 mil but bring a hooded vest. For reference above 80 I typically dive in leggings and a bare evoke jacket (similar to a 3mil) and am fine temp wise.
