The Winslow E.R.

I cover it 5 to 6 days a month. Very long and painful 24 hour shifts, unfortunately.

Oh...there really is corner in Winslow where they play Eagles' music all day long. There is a statue and some really neat murals painted on one of the buildings. Unfortunately the building recently burned down and is pretty much just waiting to fall over. The wall with the murals survived but they have the corner fenced off.

Of course, the big deal in Winslow...and what makes any trip there worthwhile... is a stay at the La Posada Hotel. This was the masterpiece of the architect, Mary Colter. After designing buildings for the Fred Harvey Company...like Hermit's Rest at the Grand Canyon...she was pretty much given a blank check for what would become the last of the great train hotels of America. Built in the 30's and recently restored it is an awesome place to visit!
