It is your right to XXXXXXXX but it is my right to not have to share in it with you. When we are on a boat together, I am held captive until we are back at the dock.

Now you are completely out of context with the issue and I think simply just trying to stir the pot for whatever reason that is. I find your post laughable at best so I assume it was made as a joke. Nice one!!

This why.... "I am amazed that this is still legal. Perhaps dive boats and all boats everywhere will someday be legally smoke free only." Everyone jumps to the law or to create a law which is in itself an imposition to someone. Personal choices and freedom cannot be mandated by law, it can only be protected. To protect that choice one has to be responsible for their behavior, not for someone to dictate what that behavior should be. To protect freedom you must be willing to come to an agreement on responsible behavior to the extent the parties can coexist to their "pursuit of happiness". That is why I made the crack about Bloomberg, what a goof - no more 32oz. drinks - really??? get out of here.

Oh, I forgot that Americans are all about "freedom". What a crock.

I think the only thing that needs to be banned from dive boats is inconsiderate people. Do that and all these other issues will sort themselves out ...

I keep agreeing with you, and I do now also about Bloomberg (especially being from the NY area! Heard all the radio commercials against his drink size thing for 7 weeks last summer on WFAN). I don't agree that there SHOULD ever be a law banning smoking on all boats. I am AMAZED that you can still smoke in casinos. I DON'T think there should be a law forbidding this! I am FOR individuals being responsible. I am for owners of buisinesses deciding (hopefully with staff/workers' support) if the business allows smoking or not. I don't smoke my pipe on a dive boat because it may offend someone. If there were a rule stated by the captain in advance that this is a smoking boat, I might POSSIBLY reconsider and smoke. Doubt it--even cigarette smokers don't cotton to pipe smoke. I think we have far to many regulations about EVERYTHING today-- admittedly, a lot of these laws came to be because people over the years have just pushed things too far and ruined it for those who tried to be personally responsible. But I still think we are way overregulated. So where is my socialism????

Duh.... TMH - I get it now! you were coming from the devils advocate side and just making comment about your observation. Sorry bout that. I retract my last about the socialism --- Friends?

We have one point in common, we all agree on one thing - diving is fun, expensive, risky, tasking and brings all types of people together.
