well, i'm married... need i say more?

just got back from ABC liquors with a bottle of Auchentoshan Select
and Aberlour 10

just opened the Aberlour... it's a sweet malt, with a bit of a dry and
even lightly bitter finish ....very full.

it's kind of an odd mix of a light nose, an initial sweetness that then
blossoms, and then gets more complex with a dry, somwhat bitter finish

i like it very much

Last night while dining with my wife I sampled Cragganmore 12.
It was pleasant, and certainly superior (to my taste) to Glenlivet but I won't be stocking a bottle.

this reminds me ... i have been trying out the Auchentoshan and the Aberlour, and
the Auchentoshan has definetly impressed me...

the Aberlour came on strong at first, but it's really much too simple. it hasn't
developed at all with further tastings, whereas the Auchentoshan has.

i would definetely recommend the Auchentoshan, but not the Aberlour

Great !!!

I had some Aberlour in the past and was not very impressed. When the Oban 14 is drunk I will open the Auchentoshan and try it. :D

Personally, and don't laugh too hard, I like Tomatin, an inexpensive but very well rounded single malt.

Malt does not have to be expensive to be good. Sometimes it's expensive and not very good. Each to his own taste. :D

I prefer Islay: Ardbeg, Laphraoig and Lagavulin but they are a bit too frisky for many.

We only laugh at drinkers of blends (yech !!!) and those who destroy single malt by adding ice and/or gobs of water.

lol, i am trying to keep my addiction to under $30 a bottle for the most part.

i have another list of under $50 per bottle, but i seldom buy those

Laphraoig is my favorite so far, out of about 8 malts i've tasted. love it.

haven't tried the other L or Ardbeg yet

Lagavulin (16) is verrryyyyyy smmooootttttthhhhh !!! I think you'll like it.

Ardbeg (10) is a bit sharp (very peaty) but because you like Laphroaig I think you'll like it.

Very nice.

Peppery, bold, spicy; almost as good as an Islay.

i have to try that for sure... it's been intriguing me for a bit
