I wasn't talking about bribes or anything…. Forget i mentioned it…

Still though I thought I read the airport was still selling antibiotics and stuff to people flying out? I never bought anything in the airport so I don't know how they work, but they have a lotta drugs on display.

I wouldn't trust them - probably a bunch of placebos!! Airport "pharmacies" aren't what I would call legitimate pharmacies. We don't have one in the CZM airport.

You don't have a 'legitimate pharmacy' there in the airport, you mean. There is that 'knock off' tourist store which sells all manner of drugs, but once again, what are you actually getting from them..? My wife bought some Tramadol from them without a script last year, and it seems to work like the stuff we get up here (with a script..). I also watched for awhile, and saw a lot of various drugs going over that counter, and I didn't see a script go by for any of it.:hm: I'm just saying... Woody

It may well have been a good med, Woodman - but a store that will break one law will likely break similar ones. One would have no idea which are real, and an airport store is not hoping for repeat customers. Looks like Tramadol is inexpensive in the US.

yep in the usa we don't do that sort of thing.
instead lobbyists for big pharm contribute to politicans they like and they in turn allow prices to be much higher than the rest of the world. we don't worry about it much because much of it is paid for by taxpayers without their knowledge. all of the key people in putting through the drug bill which passed in 02 are now high priced "consultants" to big pharm.
did we raise taxes to pay for the bill? nope just borrowed.

Sure looked like they were selling prescription drugs. I was killing time waiting on Mayair looking at it I thought? Go past the bathrooms and it is there on the right? Maybe I am misremembering. It was after a week of Carnival and my eye tear up when I am leaving.

I never said they were any good or not. I said I don't know anything about them. I just said it 'looked' like they had drugs for sale and some of them appeared to antibiotics and I thought someone said the airport ones followed different rules. I don't know. I don't buy drugs generally anywhere. Well I did pay for the antibiotics that Piccolo prescribed for my B-in-Law when he blew his ear drum snorkeling.

Hence why I asked if they follow different rules. Seems odd that in the Federal controlled airport they are illegally selling drugs.

Hey, vlkr, what is the deal on foreign drugs? Is it legal to carry them back with you but not legal to order them outside the country and import them?

Without script, the Customs rules specifically prohibit bringing back prescription meds. With script, okee dokee :thumb: as long as the drug is allowed. If it's not, there may well be very good reason it's not.

From overseas, like the camp light I once suggested you order from Hong Kong - small package mail arrives by truckloads and they really can only check a small part - looking for controlled substances mostly. If they find prescription meds, they really lack abilities to check for counterfeit, and the packages are simply returned to sender.

The big difference to the US buyer is that airport store doesn't care if you are happy or not after you leave, while the overseas supplier counts on repeat business. I have tried some that I didn't like the looks of, threw them out and got my money refunded. I've been obtaining one med from my usual supplier for 4 years now at dramatic savings.

You've probably noticed that prescription drugs in the US are seldom in the blister packs like sold in Mexico and overseas commonly. Those packs are an efficient way of handling that lowers costs, but in the US - highly paid pharmacists and techs count and pack each order usually, running the costs up along with drive up windows, call-in scripts, and so forth. As said above tho, your meds are largely paid by your PCS card, funded by your insurance provider who is paid by your employer, so the costs are hidden. Elsewhere, buy the package that closely resemble your needs, preboxed, while you are in the store.

 Better confirm anything you hear here...!!

Reminds me....warning, thread hijack..... last trip to Coz, which was end of March, I ran out of swimmer's ear. Went from Pharmacia to pharmacia looking, nobody had it. Finally ended up at the one at the chamber, I think on calle 3? Anyway, I told the guy what I wanted, and even emulated dropping drops into my ears. His english was ok, and he said for your ears? I said yes, he brought me a small bottle with spanish no english on it, but the right size. He then wanted like $9 dollars US!! I paid, though I was shocked at the price, because I had spent the last 45 minutes walking and searching. I walk outside, open the bottle, doesnt smell like isopropyl alcohol..hmm..drop a couple drips in each ear, wait..nothing. I feel in my ear, and the drips feel a little oily. Hmmmm...so back to the dive shop, Blue Magic Scuba, and hand the bottle to Jorge, the man with all the answers. He reads it, then starts laughing. This are eyedrops for the eyes he says......

No problem buying or bringing back antibiotics, without a script.
