There are some very good dive ops in my area who have similar strict policies and are known for trying to go out if at all practical with a different definition of practical then I have. Many folks love them. I don't do advance bookings with them. I prefer ops with a more conservative approach to going out and a more generous cancelation policy.

I would have considered that e-mail a threat to trash his business. I might have responded similarly. I hope not, but I'd probably have to have given it a 24 hour cooldown before I responded to you.

Not a threat at all. I already was told his policy when asked about a credit. I didnt want to post a negative review because that is not what I do without giving someone a chance to make good. Thats all.

Then it's good, I don't think your review was negative. He followed his posted terms and conditions. You wanted him to deviate from them, and were disappointed. The diving was good, you didn't have a complaint about the boat or anything else except that Capt. Todd wouldn't deviate from his posted policies. I don't see that as a slam on the operation. He could have handled it differently. He was within his terms and conditions to handle it just the way he did, and he did.

I think his issue is that Todd's policies and Violets policies were stated differently. He expected a credit based on what Violet said, and didn't receive a credit because Todd was willing to go back out, even though it was foolish to do so (in my opinion)

Sure I guess any Capt to say he is going to go out and risk the safety of his divers is within their policies. Then ya!

At this point my stand is not for the credit but to show what kind of op he runs. 3 days earlier an employee says they don't run in 4-6's. He post he is experiencing 5-8's and he is ready to run back out. Go figure...

Thank you!

Not too mention the risk of us getting hurt.

Rdrink, that "employee" is actually the owner. If you are referring to Violet.

My wife and I are average divers with about 200 dives since 2010. We are both Padi Master Divers with experience with all types of ops and conditions. Just this year alone we have been to the Galapagos, Bahamas, Panama City FL, West Palm FL, Charleston SC, Morehead City NC, Cancun and Cozumel now Key Largo. I had booked this reservation over Thanksgiving back in feb of this year. Back in July-Aug of this year

. . .

amazing over 100'! Get back on the boat with 8' seas was a challenge but we made it. One of the other 3 divers lost a fin and another was healed over not looking so good. As we we told like the day before 45 min and back in. As we waited the seas was a rocking. One of the other divers was getting sick so when the 45 min came we were happy to jump in even if we only got 10 min of bottom time. Again amazing Viz and one heck of a dive. I love that wreck! What do you know 20 min in the dive the guide is telling me he has to go up. We followed and made it to the line for the safety stop. At 15' the surge was awful! I make it on the boat with a sore knee and take off my gear to help my

It's really hard to make out exactly what you're complaining about from the wall of text, but if I read it correctly, you were charged $75/day for a DM and paid for a third dive you signed up for but didn't do?

If so, I'm not really sure what you're getting all jammed up about. DMs aren't typically supplied. If you want one, they're not free, and $75 doesn't seem like a lot of money to have someone at your service for an entire day.

The dive you canceled was on you, regardless of the circumstances. You signed up for three and did two. That's not their fault.

My personal opinion is he is after a fast buck.

I'd be surprised if what you paid actually covered the cost of taking the boat out. It doesn't sound like a real money-maker to me.

flots.

I can pretty much guarantee he didn't even break even on the first day. 2 paid divers to travel to the spiegel and back? Yikes.

6-8 ft seas and he still makes you pay for the trip when you didn't want to go.... I would not be happy. Those are not safe conditions for most recreational divers.

If they told you earlier they do not run in those conditions and then later try to charge you for them, I would dispute the charges.

I think that policy is very poor business.
