Wouldn't it make more sense to use a light without a cord for use on a helmet?
I would not connect a hand mounted main light to the helmet, too heavy.

This light was build to be used like that.
Not perfect, but good enough with current battery technology.

Now, helmets again:

I see the longhose problem.
Do not know a solution but the one shown by HP in the promo videos.

When using the usual pvc pipe attachment the cable came from behind, did not loop upward.
I have to learn to remember to turn it forward even when turned off, before I stick my head through a window or something, and scrape edges with light head or cable.
Most of the time I removed the longhose before connecting the light head to the helmet and put it above.
The cable was just long enough to temporarily remove it in an awkward 'bent elbow' position.
In the end the cable failed though, probably because I constantly pulled on it that way.

So with this light I am trying primarily do it differently.
I also practice removing the light after entangling the longhose by accident.

Have you read anything in this thread @Bennno ?

Of course it makes a lot of sense.

It makes no sense for Open Water Divers to wear a helmet.
Many people do... and they're not necessarily bad divers. eg Tomasz at Sidemount Silesia..

And btw: I do not know a single new sidemount diver who has not at least thought about using one.
Many build one to distract themselves while waiting for their harness to arrive already.

Only for wannabe cave divers and fanboys.
