I need a robust sidemount rig for cold water overhead deco dives

I'm confident you won't want to use the same rig I do -- I've got a Hollis 100D with Edd mods -- but my dive buddy and I figured out how to integrate weight into it.

He poured a custom lead plate that fits where the backpad would go. The weight has slots that roughly match up with the slots on the BCD's backside, and I strap the thing in with velcro.

The one I'm using is a relatively small weight -- 5.75 lbs. -- but it'd be possible to fit a much larger one.

How do you attach the Xdeep wing? It has two holes, one in the top end and one on the bottom end. I have hard time understanding how these could be attached to 2 inch webbing. Or maybe publicly available sidemount plates (if I would use such) have appropriate holes? The whole problem here is to find a wing that can be attached and be kept flat so it does not float like a balloon or an A-shape.

My harness is a skeleton style like the Razor. The Xdeep upper attachment is triglides for 2" webbing, so simple thread the shoulder straps through. On the low end it has a 2" webbing tail with a bolt hole and comes with the bolt and plate you attach to the crotch strap. I don't use the lower bolt. I bungee it to my lumbar plate at the crotch strap loop.

I have an XDeep Classic Sidemount rig that I could sell. Used it for cave diving in mexico. Always rinsed in fresh water from the cenotes. A reasonable offer and it’s yours.

The xdeep stealth tec would work well for you. It seems to be optimized for steel primary tanks and aluminum deco tanks. If you try to use it with aluminum primary tanks, you have to put a lot of weight in the lower pockets on the spine. I actually had to put a small webbing weight extension on the bottom on mine to be able to get decent trim in a drysuit because of that issue.
