If anyone is curious to know how the sump dive panned out: it didn't. It was causing too much drama with the campsite landowner and friend. But here's some video anyway.

When people say they don't want to support you to keep you alive, it's a good time to step away from your project.

And it's best not call them drama queens - lest you end up with a bunch of yes men and women around you like Doc Deep.

R is not a drama queen, and I didn't mean to imply that he is. He's a bada** dude: one of (if not the) most experienced and competent cavers and vertical riggers on the island, likely the most prolific rock climber on the island, and most physically fit among us even at nearly twice our age.

BUT, he is not a scuba diver of any kind.

He did throw a fit back at camp, and kept ratcheting up the tension until my staging partner got cold feet. I understand he's simply worried about losing a friend. It is a type of drama, as are all good stories, and it makes for great video.

First and foremost, that looks like a ******* awesome adventure and a whole lot of fun, thanks for the video.

That said, I feel like you shouldn’t need to be asking questions about your rig for an endeavor like that , you should know already before you try.

Don’t get me wrong , I respect what you’re doing but I also respect your buddies telling you no.

Original post item #3- " stainless bolts outward(wingnut exposed)"

Use stainless attachment screws. Specifically made for backplate/wing/tank attachment. Available in different lengths. I usually keep short T-nuts and long screws on my bench. And Dremel down the screws as needed to get a flush fit. Both nut and screw have large flat blade screwdriver slots. At dive shops and on line retailers everywhere.
