I usually allow the camera to auto focus. It takes a bit longer but you get sharper pictures if you are too close for infinity focus, this is especially necessary for close up shots. Give it a try, that could be whey you are getting less sharp shots with the zoom function. When the zoom is used your depth of field will be narrower depending on the aperture setting the camera is using and your available light.

Can you send any un-retouched images(including un renamed) to joeifi@pioneer-research.com and I will look at the data and respond via email to you on the shot.

Joe

Thnx I sent you 3 pix but I am not sure if these are good samples

That's a great picture Joey. did you use a strobe? Great colors.

Sure did, john. I had the 310 pro set that came with the strobe. Unable to adjust the intensity of the strobe, though. That resulted in some over flashed fish on some occasions. I got some really good pics with it. Looking forward to the 800 pro.

Wow great shots can you share what settings you used? Did you do any after shot touch up in PS or are those photos straight out of the camera?
There very bright images so i am guessing you have the pro set with strob.

Thanks Randy-S,
I'm using a Sealife DC800 Maxx (2 sealife strobes) .....the 3 previous photos i posted have NOT been procesed in photoshop...they are straight out of the camera.
On the three photos i used the following configuration:
- the mos important...i got as closer to the subject as i can.
- camera set to External Flash Auto
- macro focus (and zoom for the box fish)
- normal or macro flash setting on the camera
- both flash configured between 1 and 3 points of power.

I love the color of the photos but i'm not 100% happy with the sharp of these shots... i'll send the images to joe to see if he can tell me if it's normal or i'm doing some thing wrong.

here you have 3 more pictures taken in Mombasa.

Best regards.... Brino.....
