Should I buy these Japanese (Asahi?) 120 tanks?

I have 2 of these now. The valves are getting harder to find parts for, but I haven't been left empty handed yet. They use DIN regulators only. The little screw in adapters don't convert them for yoke service. The DIN connections are at a bit of an angle, so there is no way to fit a yoke around them. These are 3500psi rated tanks & I believe that they carry the smaller 7/8" neck threads, but I'm not going to pull one off to measure now because they are both full at the moment. Getting these hydro'd in the future relies on the company who made them renewing the Special Permit every so often. Mine are painted, not zinc coated. Mine have the same DOT-E12079 number stamped into them.

I also have a Faber 120. I like these a little better than the Faber, but not a lot better. All 3 are heavy to lug around & handle above water. All 3 give me great bottom time & good buoyancy characteristics. I don't change weighting when switching from a Jap tank to an Italian tank. Any difference is negligible. The Faber tank has a valve that works with DIN or yoke. It accepts the little screw in adapters.

I’m glad you have been having no issues with them. Hopefully the permit is renewed 🤞
