I agree with Walter.

How would decertification be done. Any operator that has asked to see my C-card never checked anything else. How would they determine if someone had been decertified? Certification is an indicator that on a particular course an individual demonstrated the skills required, to the satisfaction of the instructor, so as to achieve the standards for the course.

No. But some instructors should be decertifyed.

Lord, yes. DM's too.

No. The focus should be on making sure new divers are good divers. The solution is to fix the problem not start yanking certs.

I think instead of yanking certs we should just make all crappy divers ride the slow cattle boats and reserve the fast 6 packs for all the good divers. Segregation! :D

NOAA divers will lose their status if don't maintain their annual diving requirements, or contraindictions pop up on their regular medical exams. My professor has to dive somewhere, anywhere, every month of the year.

The bottom line is most of the pro divers have to but sport doesn’t.

The Navy and maybe other military divers is 6 months if you’re actively diving.

A lot of commercial divers have various areas of certification that will expire if they don’t keep recertification’s current.

I have ones that have to be redone from yearly to every three years.

Then on top of that we have the PT and medical testing.

So see, sport has it very easy.

I vote No as far as sport recerts go!

I like the idea of other instructors having to sign off on it. I have seen only a handful of divers that deserve this though.

You need to get out more. :D

I think so , ive seen many people who you would never think have taken OW.

Even if you could decertify somone, how are you going to prevent them from diving?

Expiration date on their C-Card. DM's and Instructors already have this system in place, though its just to say we've paid our annual member dues.
