I haven't been there but my buddy mentioned diving a rubble pile out front of Villablanca hotel.
We are located right in front of Villablanca reef & Wall and we have 5 dive shops on premises, Dive Paradise (American) Phocea (French), Papa Hogs , Blue Angel (Canadian) and Scuba Mau (Mexican)

Ton of rubble out front of Park Royal. Dove it last year on a shore dive. But seriously, you can take your pic for any location along the front. They all got trashed by Wilma and all have good rubble piles to dive on. I am like you and love putting a few extra pounds on - sinking down and watching the micro action! Its too fun!

How do you shore dive from Park Royal? Some friends might be staying there next year.

You just get a tank from the dive op next door - Aquaworld. DO NOT DIVE WITH THEM!!!!!

I rent a tank, and use the PR beach as entry/exit point. Be sure to bring a floater as there is boat traffic there.

Your friends can also use Aquaworlds pier for pick up and drop off by other ops. You pay like $5 or $10 for a wrist band that is good for a week. They also have a stone stair entry with rail and rinse tank that is a good entry and exit point as well.

the shore dive at Blue Angel, "Villablanca shallows" I call it, is perfect for this. It's why I dive it actually. Lots of rubble & small coral heads to explore, not to mention just hanging out around the stingray enclosure to see what's about there

BA is a great shore dive!

Watch out for the sea urchins on the shore entry (vs dock) at BA. Sometimes the wave action can push you uncomfortably close to them, as well as pull them out of their crevices.

But, by Cozumel shore dive standards, it's a nice dive.

As we were getting tossed around at BA trying to get out I saw a stonefish panic and swim off as I got too close to it. Yikes! That was the 5th one that dive.

Anyone tried Playa Corona?

As Paradise Hunter said - watch out for the urchins on ANY shore dive down there. I wear rock boots style booties as I have seen a few people step on urchins before......not taking that risk haha!
