Anyone dive from White Beach (Manchester-by-the-Sea) to the USS New Hampshire off of Graves Island? From the topo maps I've looked at, it appears to be about half a mile away. Would do the dives in doubles. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

That said, half a mile isn't too far. We routinely head out about 1/4 mile on the surface for most dives in SoCal. Anyone tried this?

I have always dived it from a boat. It would be a long swim and there is a good bit of boat traffic in the area. It would be alot easier in a kayak.

John! Did you feel spring out there today? How much longer till your "season" starts? :D

And is it me or or did you gain another 2?

What a thread hijacker you are Chris lol.

Anyway about this dive. If its not too deep and little current you could tow an inflatable raft out there with tanks in it and a flag attached. Just make sure it has a plywood floorboard to reduce drag.

No back to the thread hijacking. Hows the vis Chris and what are the water temps?

Swim 1/2 a mile w/doubles to dive the NH:huh: IMHO, that's a lot of work to dive a wreck that's . . . er . . . well . . . not really worth all that trouble. But that's just one Dope's opinion!;) The kayak option that John mentioned would be fun, as I dived that site that way in the past. But even that way, there are prettier dives up there to do with the kayak. Again, just my $.02.

You won't find a wreck.

I agree, I don't think your chances of locating a wreck that way are very good. It's tricky enough to find wrecks using a GPS and a sounder on a boat. But swimming that far out and then landing yourself on the wreck without any instrumentation etc would be tough. You'd need some really good ranges to triangulate yourself onto it.

Basically just not worth the effort.
