Here are the local Pensacola dive sites: Dive Sites

I only saw two beach dives listed there, neither the pier rubble located off Pcola Beach. Pickens is not accessible by land and I've never heard of Catherine. West end of Santa Rosa Island in Gulf National Seashores? Anyone know about this site?

Location: West end of Santa Rosa Island on the Gulf side, inside the Gulf Islands National Seashore. It is just off the beach near the Old Coast Guard Station.

The Catherine was a Norwegian bark that ran aground on August 7, 1894. The broken remains lie in approximately 15 feet of water. A dive from the beach will require a strong kick to make it through the surge. Remember to float a diver's flag behind.

Only issue is that might be a lot of walking just because Ft. Pickens is closed. It appears on the map as being in the area of the state park

More info on the dive spot

Here is some information on the local dive spots but most of them require a boat to get to.

There are two local dive sites right near Pensacola Beach region--closer to public restrooms...

NO. 4- Jacobi Reef
Location: Just off Pensacola Beach near the main swimming beach on the Gulf side east of the Pensacola Beach fishing pier. These are rows of concrete pilings in about 10 ft of water. A good snorkel dive. Shifting sands periodically cover and uncover the pilings.

NO. 5--Unknown Wreck
Location: Just off Pensacola Beach. Swim east toward the second water tower. This old, unidentified wreck is just beginning to uncover itself. It lies just off the beach in 15 ft of water. Already uncovered are ballast stones, a steering station, and a large metal tank.

I just don't know the exact locations of these two sites but I can probably ask around in the dive shops to see if they know anything about them if you need to....

Also, I would recommend, if you are going to scuba diving in Florida, to purchase Underwater Florida by Ned Deloach. You can buy it off Amazon for about $18. It has a great summary of local dive sites among Florida's cities. This is were I got the picture and the information.

people are saying everything at pensacola beach is covered up right now that is why everyone has been going to navarre and diving

anywhere is fine with me i just didn't want to get there and everything be covered up

No. 4 Jacobi's Reef is what most people call the Pensacola pier rubble, which I hear is mostly covered now. It was a pleasant shallow dive the last few years. I'm interested in the wreck they show just east of it, I'm surprised Mat hasn't searched for it. I'll be in town all next week, maybe I'll hunt for it myself.

i believe that is the casino rubble

Casino rubble is listed as 1 mile off the beach in 60 feet of water. Not what I would call a beach dive. Jacobi is listed as in 10 feet of water. That most closely aligns with the pier rubble which is about 150 yards off the beach in 15-18 feet of water.
