Another key thing about tourniquet is the time must be recorded as when the tourniquet was applied. This tells the doctor whether the leg or whatever is worth saving.

You have a 10 times greater chance of being killed by a coconut hitting you on the head than dying from a shark.

We had a close to shore shark sighting in Lanikai just last Wednesday. Looked like a reef shark (not sure though) about 20 yards off shore, maybe 6ft. It swam right by one of the anchored boats and was about half the size of the boat.

Man, did you see his interview?

he is on some serious drugs.

Most people seem so chipper after surviving an attack....he still has his leg but he seemed really down.

Welllll... they said it would be 6 weeks before he was on his feet again, and up to 18 months before he has full function... (that'd ruin my day, too).

I wish they wouldn't call it an "Attack". It was more of an "oops, thought you were a turtle", shark bite.
Kind of depends on your frame of reference is, doesn't it? Might have been a mistake on the shark's end, but tell that to the guy having his leg chewed off.

point taken.

but I'd be so happy to have my leg.

I really think I'd be euphoric to be alive and have all my parts.

You know..it so shallow out there and the sand is so light...they say if you fly or paraglide over there, you see tons of sharks all over up to Kailua...the windsurfers see them all the time too, BIGGER than 8 ft...like 14 ft very often.

As a kid surfing in Kailua right in the shorebreak during the 60s we saw sharks all the time. I got bumped in the leg by one on a particularly memorable occasion.
