Mk706--my local dive shop will install at no labor cost i just buy the parts from him, at a fair price. I dive with a tech instructor few times a month, i am sure he will be able show me how to dive the seven foot hose configuration.
Thaks for tip

I always use the long hose cuz now my wife and I only need one tank and primary regulator. I carry the air and she only needs fins and a mask....:D

For the possibility that you may cave/cavern dive some day, 7' Miflex hoses tend to float due to they're lighter weight. Which is annoying in open or overhead diving...You'll have more control w/a standard hose....

Does anyone have a picture of how the 7' hose is exactly routed.

I understand how it is, however, it seems to me that when the hose is routed across the chest, and around the head, it might create a bit of discomfort on the left side of the neck, or when you turn your head to the left.

Also, how can you stop the hose from interfering with the necklaced alternative reg.

Thanks

Thanks....pics are clear :D

The OP is asking pros/cons. How about mold-able mouthpieces?

I've been thinking about switching to a long hose; I currently use a Seacure ( or Mares ) mold-able mouthpiece. Extremely comfortable, no TMJ, just locks into my mouth with no effort. I've used the Comfobite, and don't really like the feeling on the upper mouth.

My second stage is an Atomic B2. It has the swivel end on the hose; so positioning is comfortable, no pull. I just find the Seacure more comfortable.

So, what are the options here if I want to switch to a long hose? My real concern is the receiver, and problems they may have with a custom molded mouthpiece.

Im not sure I understand - Changing the hose does not change the 1st or 2nd stage so mouth piece stays the same.

I assume in addition to changing hose lengths, he plans to change donation procedures (i.e. moving to donating the primary reg and not an alternate).

Custom-molded mouthpieces CAN be an issue for some receivers. During an s-drill, I once saw a small woman given a second stage with one such mouthpiece (long flanged Sea Cure) and begin violently hacking; she had to go back to her own regulator. It would have been "interesting" in a real OOG emergency. Due to this potential issue, none of the people I dive with will put a custom-molded mouthpiece on their primary regulator. There are plenty of "standard" mouthpieces, IMO, that offer comfortable bites. I'd look into one of those instead if you plan to donate your primary regulator.
