"cup-o-coffee method" ? That must be a west coast expression ? What does it mean ? If I had to guess I'd say it must entail having the engines help me raise the anchor in a potentially damaging (to the reef system) way ? I do sometimes "idle" forward to retrieve my anchor.

Damaging to the reef system?!? Certainly you don't anchor to the reef!?!

the Cup~0~Coffee method works this way:

1. You pull your rode aboard until it is straight up and down... if you need to use power to go forward to make the pulling easier then do so.

2. Now you cleat off the anchor line and have a cup of coffee. One cup for each hour you've let your anchor soak.

3. Have one more cup of coffee while one of the crew pulls the anchor up.

The wave action coupled with the 1:1 scope will break the anchor free. Sticky mud in an overnight anchorage might take some bacon and eggs along with the coffee.

Thanks for the explanation. I don't think your method would apply in South Florida. Here we have either very sandy bottom which is no problem anchoring in as long as you put out enough rode, or hard coral bottom with crevices that can catch you anchor. Its kind of like horizontal rockface. I would never have to worry about my anchor sinking into the bottom...

The antenna is clamped to the console rail and originally I had the wire ziptied to the outside of the rail but that just didn't look tidy.

I drilled holes in the hand rail to run the antenna wire more discreetly.

Spending time with half my body stuffed into the console wiring things up has left me with welts and bruises. But I was determined to add an accessory buss bar tied to the acc. switch and also have a data connection terminal.

The GPS is tied into the VHF radio and now the DSC feature of the VHF allows it to automatically send my position in case of an emergency.

Nice dive set up! I recently ordered an '04 Montauk and plan to do some NW diving myself. I was wondering if you considered the Roll Control racks (as used by tribolet on Boston Whaler Black Dog)? I like the location of your tanks but where does the beer go?! I'm considering using two sets of Roll Control racks mounted aft on either side of the boat (behind the RPS). Since it looks like you've been diving off your Montauk for a while I was hoping you could provide some feed back before I start drilling holes.
Thanks!
