ok looking to get my own reg. set... I dive resort dives on vacation only. I want a reliable proven reg. my budget is about 300. I need the reg. an octo low pressure inflator to hook up to bc. and just a psi guage. perhapsa depth but I am buying a computer wrist style (the oceanic geo) it will do the depth for me. should I still get the analog depth guage as a back up? not really worried about the extra cost but more so of diver profile. the less guages the less bulk and better profile. I like... anyway what do I look for in a reg? diaphram? piston? any difference? should I get a reg with adjustments? does anyone like the posidon octo? I love the small profile and compact look. is it a POS? I would prefer an octo/inflator combo but remember that I'm diving at resorts on vacation. i don't want to travel heavy this is the reason that I'm not looking at a BC right now... should I look into a titanium model? any particular brands. Please help as you can see I hve lots of questions. so its ok make me think some more. Please :)

:confused:oh how many ports do I need? 4 5 hp lp? Im confused. I have been suffering fro this symptom most of my life... :rofl3::lotsalove:

oh I think I want the smallest reg in my mouth and the lightest too. one that is also comfortable. suggestions please...

ok I'll just keep asking away... who puts all of the components together? the place you buy it from? me? or does my TV remote scuba gear assembler button do it? :)

seriously, do yourself a favor and at least do one search. these questions have appeared before. at least get yourself SOME background, so you can ask more poignant questions.

thanks for nothing. Rainer perhaps you can explain what you mean by more poignant questions? I get the feeling that I will not get an answer from you though. I have been reading rodales, google for the las three days and getting more confused about the subject. so I figured that I post a question. I'm glad that most on this board have been super helpful. However, it is disconserting to get such 1/2 ***** remarks such as this right from the start. why even respond that way if you have no intention to help.

as for the titanium remark... perhaps you could have given me a direction if titanium is too expensive. an alternative. Did you even read my questions. I dive once a year. resort dives. I like to dive butI dont dive cold water and have no desire to do so. Do you think I am going to want to drop $1000 on a reg set? I have seen reg sets for $300 but just wanted to get an idea if they are a POS or what... I would think that it would beat diving used and abused resort gear. A little bit more patients with begining SB newcomers would show some humility on you part.

have a great day... Rainer do me a favor if you don't want to add constructively use the PM button so its not hard on the eyes of all the good folks who actually wish to help another. Not everyone knows as much as you do or shares as much as you did.:shakehead: G-nite

is there a law against starting your own thread to get some needed info and help? gotta hit the sack.

I answered one of the many questions in your post. As for a direction, how about...not titanium.

Drop $1000. No need. There are so many reg setups out there, find a few that interest you, and ask for input on them specifically.

Don't be so jumpy. This ain't Ask Jeeves.

If your budget is only about 300, forget about buying a regulator! By the timne you get first and second stage, octo, and gauges, you've blown by that budget.

Then you don't have to worry about about many ports or why titanium is too expensive. (try for 5 lp and 2 hp, altho, you should only need 4 and 1)

Just keep renting for the little bit of diving you do.
