They are issuing a new card with every cert. Why the frack can't they include ALL certifications on a single card? Like a pilot's license? ATP AMEL Type ratings: Cessna Citation ... etc....

One card, not 6, 7, 8,12, or 19.....

I thought one of the things we're supposed to save the ocean from was more plastic.

PADI even have a (paid for) qualification for someone who collects cards… "Master" scuba diver.

That depends on where you are, mine cost me USD136.15 for a five year renewal. It did include a mandatory eye test.

Crazy, some agencies offer digital versions for free. I now have pictures of all the cards and those are always enough — nobody has ever asked me for the physical card.

I use pics as well and no issues in Colombia or Roatan. However this topic came up once on a thread on a FB page and a lady who ran a dive shop said she wouldn’t accept pics because of liability concerns. I don’t get it, can’t a PADI dive shop look up any PADI diver?

Anyone can to be honest with a name and DOB, or at least they used to be able to when I last tried a couple of years ago.

I just looked at my PADI AOW ecard. No picture, DON or even name.

I did padi AOW recently, they give you a 30 day trial e-card while your hard card is being sent out. You then need to purchase the e-card if you want it. I have certs from SDI and SSI as well, and PADI seems to really value their cards.

How does that work? Do you have to wait until you are done with all certifications before you get a card? If they send you a card every time you add a certification, how does that help?

BTW, my stack of C-cards is two inches high, and they come from 5 different agencies.

Since a card is included with each course, maybe add all previous cards with each new issue.
