You need to demo a pair. I have no problem with a variety of kicks. They take a little getting used to but worth every penny.

Just got back from my first trip with the Seawing Novas - a long weekend (3 days - 13 dives) in Key Largo.

The fins are great. I can get a nice consistent kick, and could really move with a flutter or scissor kick. I'm still working on my frog kick form, but had no problem getting propulsion with these fins. I still can't seem to master the back kick (no matter what fins I'm using). I probably need someone who knows what they are doing to watch me.

My legs did not tire on any of the dives and most of them involved some level of current. Due to the width of the blades, I did feel I was hitting things a little going through the Spiegel Grove, but that probably just needs a bit of kick adjustment.

Only issue I have right now is boot fit. My 7mm wet boots fit in the pocket perfectly. My 3mm low boots were a little lose, I think I'll get something a bit heftier for warm water. My EVO3 boots for my White's dry suit are just a little too big, for that I think a pair of Chuck Taylor's should do it.

Reminds me of some of the fancier toothbrushes with a joint made from more flexible material between the handle and brushhead, or in between the brushhead itself.

Based on comments posted here and other reviews (Ok. I admit. it's mostly the cool photos seducing me...), I've just ordered 2 pairs (1 for me and 1 for my girlfriend) of the Seawing Nova in white(!!) from an online store in Europe at EUR 108 per pair plus approx. EUR 20 shipping to Singapore. (That's about US$190 total).

Dealers here probably won't bring in the white ones due to limited market size. My fins are arriving in 2 weeks' time. Can't wait to try them out during our December dive trip to Sipadan! :D

White? Can you post pictures of those or give us the URL? That sounds interesting.

White? They're going to look like a pair of Humbolt squid on your feet! Would be nice for instructing though.

Found the picture. Strange.....

They're great for buddy identification underwater, especially if the viz is poor. I forgot to mention earlier they're about 1/3 the weight of my current fins, so lugging my gear around will be a little less painful soon. ;-)

i think buying high(est) quality fins while being a beginner is not such a wise choice but nevermind...
they look kinda freaky :buggy:

Buying the best quality you can afford is always the best idea.
