Caveat: I understand there is an "older generation" of galileo transmitters that uses a completely different shaped battery. I don't have information on what year they switched or how to identify which one you've got - except to open your transmitter and see what's in there.
The old transmitters use a CR2450 battery. Which is cheap and easy find.

Man, I wish I had the old model!

I just wanted to say thanks to kelemvor - this thread is really helpful. I just got a second hand Galileo Sol and air transmitter off eBay and on my first dive with it the air transmitter issued a low battery warning 2/3rds of the way through the dive. The Varta CR 2/3 AA battery is really difficult to acquire locally (in Cape Town) but the other variant mentioned here is much easier to find - so I'm going to give that a try... hopefully I don't blow my transmitter...

Now all I need is the o-ring :p .

You may have better luck searching for a [CR14250SE Lithium-Ion Battery]. Be sure to check the voltage. My wife's Vyper Air went through the original transmitter battery in about 6 months. The shop said it could have been sitting on the shelf for a long time so would replace it free in the first year.....so we took it in.
It got sent to the main shop to do this. We picked it up and they wanted $50 for the replacement. We argued and they backed off. The battery didn't make 20 dives and died. It was the proper size and voltage, but [FDK] brand. I ordered up a [Varta] and put it in myself, which is dead easy except it looks to be made with backward polarity. You need to pay attention to that.

Doing fine with the Varta. Ordered a replacement off eBay (they specifically advertised the Varta). They sent an FDK. I sent it back.

Be aware, that batteries now days can be printed with anything they want on the case, have outrageous capacity claims, and be junk. It's no longer a simple world for battery replacement. I've bought 20 packs of 2032 button batteries for unbelievably cheap, less than the price of a single at most retail locations. They were good for about 2 weeks in applications that generally last 6-12 months.

The new battery is definitely outperforming the old! It's over 4 months old now and so far I haven't got a single "low battery" alert. However, I've only got 20 or so dives on it since I'm using a shearwater for a lot of my diving.

I'm ordering a spare for the Scubaboard Invasion and found that the battery I linked isn't available anymore. Just search for the battery I listed and you'll find them for sale from other sellers (on amazon or otherwise).

Thanks for the advice. I was able to find them at Batteries Plus and will have 2 spares for a trip to Raja Ampat.

Thanks for the tip, @mostlyirish . My latest batch is coming from batteries plus. They're selling XENO brand ER14335 3.6v 1.65ah for $7.50. Couldn't order them online though - in store only for these guys. Actually, I'm pretty sure last year's are still good, but I've got a big trip coming up and haven't come to fully trust this thing yet.

I've had similar experience with very short transmitter battery life in my G2 transmitter. Maybe around a year or 15 dives a battery. This thread has been helpful.

I've noticed the screws on my transmitter have started to get chewed up. I've been trying to be careful about using a good/right-sized screwdriver, but screws are in there tight, and seem to be made of pretty soft metal. I don't see them lasting more than a couple more battery replacements without stripping out. Anyone have a similar problem?
