The computer was part of a shipment of many others with the low battery problem, they all came back working and with the new firmware installed.
In my opinion something went wrong during the firmware upgrade... and as often happens, when the flash memory gets corrupted the computer becomes an ornament...:)

How much did they offer a replacement for? With the big sales going one the HUD unit is pretty cheap right now.

They are changing the price, this is from divers supply but I’ve heard it will be the same with European suppliers.

@Mark Sallows not to hijack but... Do you or do you know of anyone with this dive computer (ScubaPro Galileo HUD) need reading glasses to see up close. And if so, can you read the HUD without glasses on. I have always wondered if I could go this route... I can't see test from 6-10 inches out... not unless I have readers
Just wanted to answer your question in case you did not find an answer yet:

Yes, you can use the HUD without glasses - I bought mine for exactly this purpose, after reading my normal (Suunto) dive computer was getting too difficult.
Last year I had an RLE (eye surgery) and don’t need reading glasses anymore- still love my HUD.
(And will update it now - yes, very strange they don’t send out a notification about firm ware updates)
