I use a Scubapro G2 for my primary computer and just got a Luna 2.0 to use as my backup. I've been able to match the algorithm and most settings on the Luna, but the MB settings on the Luna go from L0-L5 while the MB settings on the G2 go from L0-L9.

I have my G2 set to L2, so I set the Luna to L2, then started thinking, are those the same? Did the Luna just get rid of L6-9, or is the scale different now? Hope this makes sense, I'm trying to figure out if L2 on the G2 is the same as L2 on the Luna.

I called Scubapro and support basically said, you'll have to dive and see ... the people who could answer this question are in Switzerland ... not quite the response I was hoping for!

@BoltSnap should know this…

have to dive and see
That’s a horrible response

I have the G2, and absolutely dislike the MB levels concept and how intransparent it’s vs GF
My bet is 0-5 is just expanded as 0-9; with MBL3 on the Luna is the same as L5 on the G2
Unless they decide that the luna is a rec only computer and has a smaller range (nonsensical)

Here’s the most data I could find about MB levels and matching them to GF:

For an official response, you wanna reach out (or ask SP to do it) to UWATEC not Scubapro, they’re the actual developers of the computers (and they’re the swiss in this equation)

Hi @SandiJ

Run the dive planner on both computers and choose the MB level on the Luna 2.0 that matches the NDLs on your G2. Being the same algorithm, I would think that if they match on 1st clean dive, they should match on repetitive dives. The G2 has 10 settings, the Luna 2.0 has 6 settings. They may not correspond exactly, you'll have to see and then dive them together to check.

Best of luck, let us know how it works out.
