Dear all,

Some member mentioned about ScubaPro double tank mount that might be for 72 CF tanks, not 80 CF ones. I am wondering if there is some bracket, harness or mount (whatever you call it) to make SP BC (Knighthawk or Classic plus) to use double tank configuration. Please don’t mention about BP/Wing set up instead. That is an alternative choice, not solution in this case.

Thanks for your expertise in advance.

I searched the ScubaPro site using the words "double tank", "tank", and "double" and came up empty handed. Do you already of have one of the BC's you mentioned?

Yes, otherwise, I know that it is the easiest way to go with BP/wing or Triple-L Orion.

Actually, I had another BC in mind since you didn't want to go with the BP/W. Unfortunately, I did not see anything that would help. Maybe someone else can help.

I do remember that when i had my Scubapro knighthawk it had a tag that basically showed it suitable for single or a small double tank set up. I do not know what extras were needed to dive doubles with it though. Personally i would rather use a BP/wing for any type of doubles diving. :1poke: :D

I dive with my SP Classic Sport and doubles all the time. I built the bracket in '89 and I love it.

The plans are here. It's easy and cheap (less than $10) to build. Beats the hell out of $100+ bands.

Older doubles bands were made with a curved center section to fit the groove where the tank would rest in a single tank BC or backpack and most manufacturers accomodated this by providing 2 mounting holes in their backpacks.

SP used to provide holes for this purpose. I have not looked at the back of an SP BC in a few years, but the holes should still be there.

A set of older bands should be availabel pretty cheap in most LDS's lunk joxes or on e-bay. The price is normally reasonable as they are not compatible with a technical backplate.

Another option would be a set of travel bands. The Aqua Explorers bands for example come with a removeable adapter to fit a single tank BC hardpack and woul do the job nicely. But the cost is around $120-$130.
