I've got two hips and a large plate in my left arm. I've set off every metal detector since 9/11, except for the one in Bonaire that was still on test mode. I use the scanners when I can, pat down if there aren't any. TSA precheck helps quite a bit. You may not have enough metal, you'll find out :)

If I had let the Ortho Dr from that same practice do the full reverse shoulder replacement they say I need, I'd be even more likely to get to spend quality time at TSA.
I declined, for now. It took me 55 years to agreed to do the rest of the ankle fusion Surgeons kept telling me I needed.
(I tend to postpone that shite until I run out if other options)

Thank you for the reply gypsyjim, especially for mentioning that dive groups drifting apart is not a major concern.

Hope your foot continues to mend and you're able to join the Invasion.
Oh, diving or not, I plan to be there.

By hook or by crook I do intend to dive though.

Sounds good Ill buy you a pool beer.

Every surgeon, PA and tech in that division of the Orthopedics practice by now knows that I WILL be diving in mid June.
The surgery would not have happened now, had that not been agreed to, unless I did something stupid in the meantime.
( not that I do not do stupid things, given the opportunity, but not something THAT stupid)
I have been cleared for full weight by the 10th. I will behave myself until then.
( no driving my 6 speed or one of my Harleys, until well after the 10th, promise)
Even if I have to have my gear tossed to me (and maybe even the boot at the end of a dive), I will be diving.

I will not turn down a pool beer though, after my first dives.

Question for Cozumel Surge/Invasion veterans ....

Other than as a margin increaser/feel better tool is Nitrox at all necessary for the group profiles that we are going to be diving?

I've got my Nitrox card, but not sure if the cost/hassle (of switching gasses between boat (Nitrox) and shallow shore dives (air), etc.) is worth it. I did Blackbeard's in February, and while air vs. Nitrox shortened the deepest parts of the profile a bit on some dives, I can't really say that I was missing out by shallowing up a bit. Even with multiple dives a day, my loading was staying down. My limited diving in Cozumel in 2018 also doesn't make me think that there will be great time while deep.
We have just stuck with air for simplicity, but I think I would have felt a lot better at the end of the week and we chosen Nitrox, just split bit slower but still enough to keep up with all the bar shenigsns! Personally we plan to just stick with the air unless we start loading up on afternoon dives also.
