I wonder will the hotel pack us a cooler with beer for the ride back to the hotel or do we have to talk to our divemaster?
My dry bag will hold ice and a 12 pack. We tell everyone its "towels". Oh look?!? I made a mistake and grabbed the wrong bag. Oh well, can't let this beer get warm. Party Boat Cozumel 2022!

The winner is #2!

Question for Cozumel Surge/Invasion veterans ....

Other than as a margin increaser/feel better tool is Nitrox at all necessary for the group profiles that we are going to be diving?

I've got my Nitrox card, but not sure if the cost/hassle (of switching gasses between boat (Nitrox) and shallow shore dives (air), etc.) is worth it. I did Blackbeard's in February, and while air vs. Nitrox shortened the deepest parts of the profile a bit on some dives, I can't really say that I was missing out by shallowing up a bit. Even with multiple dives a day, my loading was staying down. My limited diving in Cozumel in 2018 also doesn't make me think that there will be great time while deep.

I do seem to feel better after the dives on notrox not as tired more energy even if the dive dose not require the extended bottom time it is less nitrogen loading. on the days that my nitrox tanks were not available or had to be given up I did not have much trouble keeping up with the group on past invasions.

Great question and I’m with you on this - probably not messing with Nitrox on this trip unless someone convinces me it’s necessary. I know it’s supposed to help you feel less tired but I have not noticed a meaningful difference 🤷‍♀️

I will be using Nitrox except for the Cenotes excursion.

I have not seen that done on a dive boat now in several decades.
Norms have certainly changed since the early 70s.

I think the question is how deep will you be for how long. I don't think these group dives, if they have a deep component, will be deep for a long period of time. Hence I don't believe nitrox would be all that beneficial. I plan to do 3 dives a day on air, as I have done on all my previous Caribbean dive trips. That said, if nitrox makes you feel better, go for it.

Edit: added missing period
