I'm using a Focus sedan. Had it for 2 years before I started diving. Think the hatchback would be more useful for diving, but I'd have to compare trunk vs hatch cargo room. I swear my trunk is bigger. Works well enough. And 34 mpg is great when I have 85 miles one way to the quarry and 50 miles on way to the LDS.

I can fit 4 HP80s and a 30cft pony in my trunk, single layer with gear bag, BP/W, and fins on top, along with my milk crate of car stuff in a corner of trunk. My folding camp chair goes in back seat along with anything else.

The STANDARD Prius has adequate room for 2 divers cold water gear (2x 20gal tubs, 2x HP 100 tanks, 2 small weight buckets, 2 drysuit bags, 2 fair sized camera bags)? That might be sweet. :)

Another issue. We did test drive a 2017 V, the ONLY Prius we've tried out. We hated....repeat HATED the head restraints.  WAY too far forward and aggressive. It literally is a deal breaker for us. :banghead: My buddy has a Toyota Sienna and to drive it I need to take the damn thing out. Are they ALL like this? Is there some particular year this 'went bad'?

I know, new whiplash safety standard, I did some research. But it doesn't work well with small people with vertical driving posture. We sit too deep in the seat which ends up pushing the head forward. This pretty much explains it: New Car Headrests (Head Restraints) Designed Too Far Forward | YogaBack
