Yes, Ralphs has a pretty good monopoly over here. Think Ken's purchases go into a goodie bag?

I was guessing that kelpmemaid might actually be associate with CoastKeepers....a guess from her handle.

Otter

but I have yet to be able to go out with them (SM Baykeeper, that is).

The name has to do with the fact that I just love the stuff. Not only is it beautiful all by itself, it provides an amazing habitat for loads of other critters.
If that makes me not who you thought I might be, well, you'll just have to stop by and see for yourself.

SAF, feel free to PM me with any questions on the CCD Research Diver program. The animal/plant ID part was very helpful to me -- it made diving more interesting, knowing what I was seeing.

You should be unmistakable with that cute little mermaid tail all tucked behind you :tease:

Slogging into Ralphs in full kit is a no brainer - as I dump my ashtray of coins, pay the 8%+ extortion and walk out with real money.

That's about the extent of my MDR supermarket foray. Pushing a cart with fins is no fun...even with the stubby turtles.

I'm at the show to see my friends from DUI, spend time with my LDS, and drool over housings for my new toy. I'll be the one staring at the e20 housing, figuring out how to smuggle it out of the show.

Maybe a diversion. Hmmm... a guy in a drusuit with a shopping cart may do the trick.

K

and maybe I can pick up one too :out:

I almost missed it. I thought it was the last weekend of the month....all messed up from moving and unpacking.

Good thing I logged back on here. I drive past there every day and didn't even see a sign for it yet.

So yeah, I'm there! And I found out that my new neighbor is a diver too, so I'm going to try to drag him along.

See you all there. I'll be the one with the ball cap with the dive flag embroidered on it, heh.

Do a dance. I'm dry until after Vaca (like, mid July)

Bummer.

NorCal, so you escaped and made it to paradise. Congrats and welcome to So Cal.

I'll be lurking the show Sunday - see some of you there. I'll be the hippie in the shorts and the black Catalina Divers Supply lid, stealing an e20 housing.

Kelp: You'll post bail for me, right? C'mon, where's the love....

I'm staying at my ex's chafing at the bit to get into the show tomorrow AM. Did all my off-island shopping today so I could focus 100% on the show tomorrow and possibly Sunday.

SAF_25... the Conservancy Divers are a very worthwhile group of divers trying to make a difference. In another life I was V.P. of the Catalina Conservancy and oversaw their research, education and ecological restoration programs. I was the only admin at the time who strongly supported the CCD efforts.

The Conservancy just named their new CEO (hurray) and she, An Muscat, is a research scientist, diver and educator. Things are looking up. Ann formerly directed the USC Marine Science Center on the Island and was responsible for setting up the marine reserve near Big Fisherman. I look forward to having a head who definitely understands the ecological issues the organization is charged with handling.

Hey Mo2vation watch it. My college roommate is the brains (er money) behind those coin machines. Of course he "retired" 20 years ago and I'm a starving marine biologist! But I'd like to think I'm much happier because I've never had a cell phone glued to my ear.

See some of you this weekend.

Dr. Bill
