What music do you associate with scuba diving? I am putting together a montage (sp) of all the pictures from a recent diving trip and making a movie from them. I am stuck for what to use as background music. We were in Mexico if that makes a difference.

Since you are basically making your own dive movie, you need to think about what emotions you want the lay-viewer to experience. Is it something soft and soothing like you feel when diving a lazy durrent drift over a reef? Or is it exciting, and adreniline pumping like you feel as you load the gear and head out to dive a wreck or cave you've been chomping at the bit to get wet on? The music sets the entire film.

It may be a bit over-used, but Carmina Burana by Carl Orff is always fun to set the excitement of a pre-dive to. In fact, I'm gonna listen to it now just for fun.

Maybe not the best background music, but I like Rock Lobster by the B52s.

Really? I think this would make people get up and walk out or make them hold their ears to keep them from bleeding.

I recently used:

Incubus - Aqueus Transmissions (although more suited for a river dive with the "floating down the river" lyric)

Incubus - Are you In?

311 - Amber

Over Memorial Day, my wife and I were diving in Turneffe and during one of our surface intervals we put together a list of songs for use on her underwater videos and/or my slideshows.

Sea and Sand - Who
I am a Rock - Simon and Garfunkel
Far Side of the World - Buffett
Changes in Attitudes, Changes in Latitudes - Buffett
The Tide is High - Blondie

For shots taken topside on the boat:
Boat Drinks -- Buffett

If I Had A Boat - Lovett
Come Sail Away - Styx
Come on Down to My Boat - Every MOthers Son

People shots (either topside or while diving):

We are the People are Parents Warned us About -- Buffett
Shiny Happy People -- REM

Yellow Submarine - Beatles
Oceans Away - Daltrey
The AIr that I Breathe - Hollies
Every Breath You Take - Sting

So is there a buffet, a buffett or both in Margaritaville?
