That's because you don't seem to get the point that foreign vendors aren't responsible for your internal mess or government polices. You keep insisting that somehow the outside vendor is supposed to figure out what your government is doing inside its borders. You are also insisting that they put labels all over their website telling you what your government will charge you, the buyer/importer, and look into their crystal ball to give a quote for that part. I buy from all over the US and Europe, and no one from my vendors does for me what you seem to be insisting they do for you. This point was made several times by others here, but you seem not to accept it and want it your way. Get over it.

Reading online suggests that there are many countries that do not allow the free transfer of goods from other places to private buyers in their country.

Thats actually kind of the American way. When you pick up the candy bar marked $2.99 at a gas station in Massachusetts, it ultimately rings up at $3.18 at the counter, assuming they are only adding sales tax and don't recover the credit card processing fee too. We don't get mad at the store since we know the difference is going to the state, not lining their pocket. We're used to it and pretty much accept that the price we see doesn't necessarily include all taxes and fees.

Not quite, but funny that you mention that. As I've said, I moved to the US as an adult, and that was actually one of the biggest "culture differences" I've experienced. In the old country, you paid what was on the price tag. Anyway, at a US store you still have all the info when you buy - you can learn to add the tax when you look at the item, and then ultimately you can decide not to pay at the register, if it becomes too much. I'd be more than OK if ScubaGaskets presented me with that option, but alas.

I get all the "just ignore it it's small and it's there for a reason" arguments, and I will, if I start seeing it more often. Just not yet.

I'll try to bow out of this gracefullly, and avoid getting overly political, but there is a difference between "you probably should have known" and "you should just suck it up and be okay with it". I'm not okay with it at all, I just expect it and buy (or dont) accordingly.

Increasing tariffs and eliminating De Minimis was pitched to the american taxpayers as a strategy for making american goods more competitive in the global marketplace and also to make importers "pay their fare share", but I don't believe that and neither should you. These tariffs, regardless of how they are packaged and presented, are just a way to help prop up the lopsided trade and federal deficit without having to actually fix any core issues, increase domestic production efficiency, reduce federal spending, or increase income taxes. Don't take this as being pro or con for our current federal administration. Both sides of the aisle have the same agenda in this regard.

For those not aware there are over 40 countries EUROPE AND ASIA their post office will not except letters or small package for the US . The reason they are not setup to accept traffics for the US and also the US GOV has not provide them with clear details on collecting traffics .

I actually saw that online as well. I put some items in the cart on some site, then when tried to check out It said "delivery to your address is not available". Well, shucks.

I'll make my last comment in this thread, hopefully. And it is...drum roll...

If you are in the US, BUY ZEAGLE.

Now, that's a brand I have never had any issues with. Great product, ubiquitous kits, and...

...did you know you can remove a Zeagle yoke without a damn specialized socket ordered from Thailand?

I am going to buy Zeagle myself now that they have orange fins with a matching orange mask and snorkel!!!

And we don't have to pay the outrageous taxes you do, in fact, we pay nothing :P

you must not be in the dive industry.... all of the Huish brands have been extraordinarily hard to get parts for at the dealer level since Covid, I could not in good conscience recommend anyone buy Zeagle regulators, or anything else from Huish because of that. It has been an absolute nightmare to get parts kits or heaven forbid any replacement parts from them. Moreover, you can't buy parts kits from them directly anyway so if you're in the US, buy from companies like Deep6, Dive Rite, or Poseidon who are actually supporting end-user service....

What gave it away?!!

No, I'm just a diver with experience.

Who said anything about getting parts for at the "dealer level"?

But even on that, my LDS had no issues servicing my Zeagle reg as recently as August, including a replacement part not included in the kit.

I could not in good conscience recommend anyone buy Zeagle regulators

I WISH I only had Zeagle regulators, but I have others, unfortunately.

That is not true at all, NOT AT ALL!! I have no issues buying anything from them, products or parts. This may have been true during COVID times, just like other vendors, but it hasn't been an issue with them for a very long time. In fact, it wasn't an issue during COVID either, perhaps some delays, but they were resolved within a reasonable time.

If you want to make a plug for other vendors, go ahead, but don't spread false information that is not even remotely true about vendors you don't like or don't support. Not fair and totally unprofessional.
