Though there's information here and there about the permit process for Blue Hole, there didn't appear to be a one-stop shopping note, so here ya go.

I found the permit application here:

http://www.santarosanm.org/permit_application.doc

So a couple questions...

I'll be arriving this Friday after business hours (assuming the weather holds). Where do you buy a weekend permit? Can you just go ahead and buy an annual permit at the same place? If not, can you apply your weekend permit payment toward an annual permit?

There is a person that usually comes by on Saturday to collect for the weekly permit. This time of year, they don't really get to excited about it. I'd have it ready, if they come fine, if not you just saved $8.

(was that wrong of me??)

Hi Roger,

Kevin is right. Also, you cannot pick up an annual permit at the same place and you cannot apply the weekend fee to the $25 annual fee. If you want an annual permit, you can mail in the application with the fee now, and if someone asks (very unlikely) you can give them your name and tell them that you already sent in for your annual permit but haven't received it yet. I have never had a problem doing that, they know that it can take 6+ weeks to get the permit and won't give you a problem. You can always take a copy of the application you filled out to show them.

We tell our students pretty much exactly what Kevin said... I had a permit form and a check ready in my log book during ALL of 2006 and never once was asked to pay for a permit. This year I just mailed in my check and got a yearly permit, but again was never asked to show a permit.
