I was going to post this in the equipment category, but I figure it would reach better ears in the Breakwater-experienced bunch.
Does anyone know anywhere to get the sand screw/augers that we used to anchor floats into sand? I've heard stories that they arent sold anymore, and every store seems to be sold out. Anyone know of any, or have any to sell?
If so, email me at jgoldmanhall@hotmail.com

They have one at Any Water Sports in San Jose.

Do youreally want to use one of these? Smal boat anchors work butter and do not need a diver to go down and set it.

I'm in a class right now and we are all using folding grapple anchors wth about 6 feet of chain attached and then 100 feet of rope. We just finished a session with the Long Beach City fire department divers. They all use Bruce anchor on their marker floats. A small bruce anchor would hold a float with a half dozen divers on it even in a good current. provided you have some chain and at laeast twice as much line as depth.

I'd always seen screws too. But the boat anchors really do hold better, have no sharp ends and are more compact. and the bigest part, do not require a diver to go down and set them
