That’s fine. Steel wool is carbon steel and will embed in stainless, creating a corrosion cell.

You can use stainless steel steel wool.
Since not all stainless steel wool is kosher to use, use a magnet to test before use. anything attracted by a magnet should not be used.

I wouldn’t bother to look for it when a scotch brite pad is so easy to find. Plus, if it rusted once, it still needs to be passivated.
