It used KO2 (potassium superoxide) to generate oxygen. Good luck getting cartridges. Rather dangerous stuff. Will explode if it contacts oil. The chemical is highly caustic. They show up on ebay from time to time

Doesn't need any instrumentation. When the oxygen can stops working stand up.
 
Chemox, right Dave? Ship born firefighting gear. As I recall, they don't react well to water......
