I am familiar with the routing for a 7 foot long hose, but would like to try a 9 foot hose. Could someone help explain how to route it, or point me to a reference describing it.

Are there any nuances around using the longer hose that I should pay particular attention to?

I am not sure if this is the proper forum for this question, but is seems applicable.

Thanks,
John

People use 9' foot hoses?

Well, judging from the responses, I might have been mislead. It was explained that for confined spaces, it allowed the sharing/following diver more room to keep clear of your fins. Due to my inexperience, I did not have any reason or evidence to argue.

seven is more than enough for most people. I am over 6 feet and over 300# and use an 8 footer and it's a tad long (the 7 was a tad short) can't imagine a 9.

Hi Steve,

I got lost through your explanation - do you use an 8ft hose because the 7ft is a bit too short to wrap around your body when stowed, or do you mean your buddies use an 8ft hose for you when you cave dive with them?

Thanks!

The seven footer was a tad short to wrap around me. I could do it, but had to pull everything tight or else I'd lose the ability to turn my head left. My next long hose will probably be 7'6"

Never had any problem sharing on somone elses long hose.

Thanks, I have the opposite problem (the 7' is a bit loose when stowed, once in a while I tuck the excess under my knife); it seems to me that a diver's girth has a lot more effect on how tightly the hose wraps when stowed than his/her height.

Are you cave diving with <50 total dives? (your profile)
