Is there anybody in Roatan now that can tell me the current water temp, or does anyone have a link to a reliable, current temp reading? Thanks!

I just got back from Roatan (Fantasy Island) yesterday (June 27). The water temp on the south side was around 82 degrees F. Like lukewarm bath water. I didn't notice much difference between the surface and 90' down.

I snorkled in just swim trunks and wore a lycra skin when diving. The dive skin was mainly a rash guard under my BC and protection if I bumped into something under water. It was pretty windy and cloudy all week. Even though the air temp was around 85, when you are wet, it gets pretty chilly on the boat ride back. Several people on the boat were wearing only swim suits and didn't complain about getting cold in the water.

The surge in the shallow areas (or a crevice/crack like Marys Place) can easily knock you into something sharp or scratchy, so I would recommend some type of skin or thin wet suit.

One person in just a swim suit on a different boat had an encounter with a small jelly. I didn't see any myself all week.

I was perfectly comfy in a .5 mm fullsuit last june in Roatan

mattboy - Roatanman gave you a link in his post, for the current daily water and air temps. Go back and reread it.

I was at CCV two weeks ago and the water temps were 82-84 degrees. I never wear more than shorts and a rashguard there.
