We in the Pacific Northwest deal with Rain, Snow and lots of overcast but never hurricanes. Going to Kona or Roatan in late July. Anyone know what the weather issues for Roatan are that time of year?

The hurricane season in the Caribbean results in the rainy season for the Bay Islands. It will be warm, and might even rain. Maybe.

Weather comes out of the North to the Bay Islands. Yet another of the 312 reasons why diving on the South side is mo betta.

Come, dive, have fun. You were wet, anyway. Run off causing turbidity is not a major issue... yet.

I was there for a week last July. Few thundershowers, no biggie - only had one dive with poor viz.

Hurricane Mitch was an exception to the usual, I understand, but I always do Trip Insurance for several reasons. If another one of those once-per-century storms heads that way, either don't go, or get out - and get a refund to go again.

Adventure if so much a part of the fun...!

Hurricane season in the Carib is Aug through Jan. But they can come earlier, or later.

You best bet is March through June, if you are worried about hurricanes. Other than that, you are forced to roll the dice.

You have that completely wrong about Caribbean Hurricane season IndigoBlue. The Hurricane Season is May/June through about November. Sept and Oct are the typical peak months for the Caribbean, although Honduras doesn't typically see many anyways.

Unless you have Trip Insurance - which is a good idea for several other reasons...
