more info is definitely needed. Fiji or Roatan is not a Ford vs Chevy question, it's a used Ford escort versus a new Chevy Corvette. Nobody really evenly compares either of those vehicles just as nobody is going to evenly compare Fiji and Roatan, there must be a lot more to the question, one of them is going to be vastly different in price and effort and time to get to and the experiences are going to be completely different.

It would indeed be very interesting to find out from the OP why/how the choice between only these two dive locales.

I've been to Roatan several times and quite enjoy it for easy and inexpensive Caribbean diving. (What happened to Kharon, I've no idea).

I've not been to Fiji but don't have to have been to know that if all things being equal, other than the class of diving, it would be Fiji every time!!

So yes, very interested in learning OP's criteria for the choice.

Hi guys, trying to plan my next trip. Which spot has better diving? =)

I have been to both Fiji and Roatan. If by "better diving" you mean that some combination of health, abundance, and/or diversity of marine life is your sole criterion for choosing between the two, then the answer is Fiji.

I don't know where you live, because you don't list your location in your profile, but we North Americans visit Roatan so frequently because it is more convenient and less expensive for us to travel to than most Pacific and Indo-Pacific destinations. If time and money were not factors in my decisions, I would almost never dive in the Caribbean--all my trips would be to the so-called Coral Triangle of the Indo-Pacific.

Hi guys, I'm thinking of joining a dive club that is going to both places. I just needed help deciding which. Money isn't a factor. I just wanted to know from your experiences which has better diving. Thank you for your responses. I live in CA btw,

Also, Um no need to spat over my question. Or sound condescending. It's not that serious. =/

I've also been to Roatan and Fiji.

My vote is for Fiji, with no reservations at all. More biodiversity, for starters.

The north side of Fiji, Wananavu is where I'll be heading. Thanks everyone!

Been to that resort. You're going to love it. They won't remember me, but tell'em I said hi anyway.

The north side of Fiji, Wananavu is where I'll be heading. Thanks everyone!

You're going to Rakiraki, you'll be good. Your worst dive there will be far better than the best of Roatan, not to mention if you get out to Bligh waters you're going to be doing some of the best diving available about anywhere.

Been to both. Fiji is better diving. Also from California it's only about a 10 hour direct flight. The Fijian people are very friendly and welcoming. Take the opportunity to visit one of the villages if they have a tour. Bula!
