Did three dives in RI today with v1_matst and scubasarus. I also got my new dry suit today so two of the dives I was breaking that in.

First dive Beavertail Lot 4, Jamestown RI. By far the best dive of the day. An absolutely awesome dive site, but a pretty advanced entry/exit, with tons of very cool terrain. We found one of the big ship anchors resting on the bottom at about 50 feet at this site. Bottom temp 64F vis about 15ft.

Second dive, Ft Wetherill, Jamestown, RI. Nothing unique to report. The vis wasn't that great and it was very crowded. This was the first dive on my new dry suit so my main concern was really just getting the feel for that on this dive.

Third dive, Bass Rock Rd in Narragansett, RI. The interesting thing on this dive was my second Atlantic torpedo ray sighting of the summer. This guy was a midget compared to the one I saw back in June but still good sized. Probably around 3 feet long (the one I saw in June was closer to 5 feet). He was so well buried I came very close to swimming over it before I noticed it. Even when I pointed it out to my buddies they had to look for a second before they realized what I was so interested in.

That torpedo ray was pretty cool, although it did take me a second to find it. It was hidden -very- well.

Parking lot 4 at Beavertail was by far my favorite dive of the day and my favorite location at Beavertail. If anyone reading this has never been there, I highly recommend it.

My dry suit better come in soon..... :)

hey you two. cool sightings. Still up for wed as Van Zandt Pier?
But I do have to slam you a bit...with 67 degree temps too warm for drysuits. should be still diving wet. he he he

Clearly you do not understand the "First Law of New Toys"! :eyebrow:

Yup still planning to dive Wednesday.... I'll probably have to use the drysuit too...

Still on for Wed. night. I want my drysuit to come in so I can get used to it, weight it properly and... well... new gadget sort of thing...

It's nowhere near cold enough to 'need' it yet, but I certainly do 'want' it.
