Hello all...I am a long time diver, but have been land-locked for the past seven or eight years and have not been diving. I was in the military and stationed in Okinawa, Japan where I did a lot of diving, even earning my Dive Master rating. However, my next duty station after Okinawa was Grand Forks, North Dakota, where I did some ice fishing and snowmobiling...but no diving. Since then, we have lived in Ohio and now Virginia. My last dive was while on vacation in Cancun. I took a cavern dive trip to the Ponderosa cavern in the Yucutan and then went to Cozumel for a drift dive. That was in August 1998 and I haven't been diving since then. That's a long time to be away from the sport and I'm ready now to get back into it. Hopefully, this discussion board will keep me motivated and get me up to speed on new equipment, dive destinations, etc.

Best regards...ToriiDiver

Welcome to the board. ;)

HI, TD,

I just got back from Okinawa myself. Who was your instructore there?

I left Okinawa in 1991. My instructor was Don Belcher, a good friend of mine. How long were you there and where were you stationed?

I just found the Board last month, and it has proven to be a great source of information and a real motivator for another returning diver. So much experience and knowledge (and yes, opinion) in one place.
