Look at the last line in number 8. Now you have posted what PADI has give to pros and dive centers to use however in both of the web conferences I was on, they clearly stated to us that divers should test breathe the regs, sterilize them and then right before splashing just do a quick check by purging. They actually said that just a test purge was not enough and divers should do both.
Ok great! I only cited the document which PADI published publicly. It's been elsewhere on ScubaBoard, and all over Facebook. I am not a PADI Pro, I don't have any access to restricted publications. A simple web search and it was readily available.
They may have told you one thing, and that's great. But this document does, clearly, state
"But sharing air might be really important underwater. So, don't test breathe your alternate second stage. Test purge it during checks, but leave it disinfected in case someone needs it. Or, test breathe it, then redisinfect it."
Their
recommendation is to do
either, and/or both, it's up to the individual and/or dive op. There's no scuba police, nobody is going to get in trouble for utilizing one recommendation over another, or doing neither! If you see one of my earlier responses, in response to a question as to whether or not I think it's a sufficient test, I,
personally, do not think it's sufficient, and will continue to test breathe my octo, but my dive partner right now is my wife, swapping spit via octo is the least of our "sharing"...
You dive you, and I'll dive me, and everyone else will take whatever steps they consider to be appropriate for themselves in this situation.
Edit to add: The poster was publicly linked to in a Blog post by Drew Richardson,
President & CEO PADI Worldwide, in the paragraph immediately following the heading "Your PADI Dive Center is Ready".... "If you haven't already, you'll be seeing this poster highlighting eight simple steps that we can take as divers, posted on websites and at your local dive shop.".... available here:
