Or maybe "syndicate" since there's already a Chairman-of-the-'Board. You might even be able to challenge Wayne Newton, and NOBODY ****s with Newton.

Hilary – Thank you for your response. I wasn’t sure how much longer I could wait before responding to the board again. You guys are brutal. LOL J

Now, What my “refund” is to Hilary is private until she decides to share, IF she decides to share. That is her business and hers alone. I cannot be the one to bring that to open forum. It’s not respectful of her situation. Sorry to disappoint everyone, but that is how I was raised and my father would kick my *SS if I did any different.

As for the Captain: His actions were far more serious, as well as the inside crew for not catching the problem before it happened. That is why the checks and balances were established. Were did the breakdown actually occur? Inside, the captain made it a whole lot worse. I assure you the captain has been dealt with at this time. How we choose to punish our staff is an internal company issue. When it is a non-serious issue, yes, we sometimes tar and feather, sometimes walk the plank, but with serious issues it is a very private matter.

Our captains and mates (as well as every staff member we have) are hired on a full-time salaried basis. The reason I mention salaried is that we pay our staff even when the weather is bad and no trips are running. I am very proud of every staff member that we have. We are not your typical run-of-the-mill dive shop. We do not use private contractors, as that is when situations such as this occur frequently. When you hire contractors you have no control over what is going on out on the boats. We have a very long hiring process and training process before captains and mates are released to run trips on their own. The captain in question went through a three-month trial/training process before he was hired full time to Cristal Clear. We invest a lot of time and support into all levels of our personnel. But to reiterate, the captain has been dealt with. Disrespect of another human being, no matter what the situation may be will not tolerated.

The cohesiveness of the board is a wonderful thing. I hope everyone takes me up on my offer (see next reply) to come dive. Sorry I couldn’t offer yesterday, but I had to get approval for the over 70K divers who could show up on our doorstep. Did I mention that reservations are recommended? J

Once again, my phone is open (305) 731-3303 or email dawnbarber@cayclubs.com.

After the recent discussions regarding Cristal Clear Charters I realized there are quite a few misconceptions about the company I work for.

Cristal Clear Charters was officially established in 2003 to provide the best dive experience the Florida Keys has to offer. (Joe and I opened Dive In in 2002) To this point, Cristal Clear Charters has relied heavily on word of mouth advertising only.

What we offer: modern dive boats and equipment; great customer service; staff’s excellent knowledge of the area, professionalism and friendliness and naturally the key geographic areas our dive shops are located. We offer the best customer service in the Keys and cater to individual divers. Whoever first books the trip…calls the trip. We have currently have operations in Key Largo, Tavernier and Marathon, Florida.

Cristal Clear Charters dive fleet consists of six custom dive boats. The fleet consists of one 46’ Newton, Two 42’ Newton’s, Two 45’ Corinthian Catamarans, and a 30’ ProSport Catamaran. All dive vessels have been customized for our customer’s diving pleasures and equipped with the most current marine electronics. Amenities on board our vessels include, clean working marine heads, freshwater showers, drinking water, juice, coolers, ice, camera and mask rinse buckets, dive platforms and ladders, DAN Oxygen and DAN First Aid Kits.

Cristal Clear Charters will not be going anywhere, we will be in service for a long time to come, and we feel we have the nicest boats, best equipment, great locations and undeniably the best staff in the keys. To illustrate this we are offering a FREE DIVE TRIP to any scubaboard member that brings in this posting along with a copy of their Scubaboard profile page for verification. This is going to be valid from now until March 1, 2007 and from May 1st to June 1st, 2007. This offer is good for one dive trip per person per print out per scubaboard id. I encourage you to pass this to all your friends. All I ask is that in return the member posts their experience to the board since I am sure it will be positive.

Thanks (and please excuse the rambling) I really do love my staff.

Dawn

That is an incredibly generous offer, too bad my Florida trips this year do not fall within that timeframe (nor are they down your way). I will certainly consider you operation if I ever get to the Keys.

Dawn thats a kind offer, and a great way to turn what could have been a negative into a positive. Hillary seems happy, so I'm pretty sure the rest of us will be happy too! Ill head down your way in Feb and come out for a dive! Might I also suggest taking up camp here on scubaboard.com and becoming a regular contributing member? Its a great crew and (as netdoc says) when done correctly can be a huge plus for your business. GL

Dawn,
I have to believe this was an exception to the rule. The owner of our dive shop in Cape Coral uses you guys. I've personally dove with you 3 times. Once in Tavernier and twice in Key Largo. All 3 times were great experiences. I was working on my master one time and your captain and crew were very accomodating. This was a generous offer and I encourage everyone on SB to take advantage of it.(I know I will ;) ).
Thank you,
Chris

I have been watching this unfold and keeping out of it but I guess it's time to put my 2psi in. I had the pleasure of diving with Cristal Clear Charters at their Tavernier location last March. The captain, crew and office staff were professional and courteous. It is unfortunate that Hilary had a bad experience and there is no excuse for it but we board members need to realize that CCC is comprised of a lot of people. To blame an entire company for the actions of one employee is wrong unless that company refuses to handle the problem once it has been brought to their attention. It appears to me CCC has done so.
This board has an incredible reach and impact on the diving community, fact is we really are an 800lb gorilla and I have seen some really good things come out of this board. I would venture to say we have contributed to the success of several companies- a really good thing IMO, I would hate to think we did major damage to an undeserving company.
I for one, will dive with Cristal Clear Charters again. If I get the service I got the last time I will let the board know.....and if it's bad, the world will know that as well.

March 1 cutoff.....darn, missed a free dive by 2 weeks. :)
